An update to our story -- I selected this Charity because my precious Golden, Sammy, was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. Little did I know, my ChowRever, Oso, would be diagnosed with Cancer too.
Last week we noticed a lump on Oso and it turns out to be a Cancerous Mast Cell Tumor. Oso will have it removed on Monday, January 2 and we'll confirm if it's localized at that time. Even with Oso's very thick fur, I believe we found it early. I'm thinking positively about his prognosis.
Thank you for your donations -- they will make a difference to advance Canine/Feline Cancer Research and Cures. Sammy and Oso are both benefiting tremendously from Cancer research and Veterinary knowledge.
Please remember to inspect your pets for lumps/bumps and bring your pet to the Vet immediately if you find one.
Happy Holidays! Morris Animal Foundation is a global leader in supporting scientific research that advances veterinary medicine. They have completed over 2,400 studies that have improved the health and quality of life for dogs, cats, horses, and wildlife around the world.
These studies have led to better prevention, diagnostics, treatments, and cures. They research chronic Kidney Disease -- which effects older cats and dogs. They also do extensive research on Cancers effecting dogs and cats. Currently they are doing a Golden Retriever Lifetime Study to learn more about cause and effect of Cancer in animals.
This reseach speaks to me because my 12 year old Golden, Sammy, was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. I've learned a dog can live 2-3 more years with Leukemia. In our case, this prognosis coincides with the expected life span of a large breed dog. I am grateful for the research that allows us to work with our Vet to give Sammy the longest, happy life possible and I'm grateful for every day that I have with her.
This Holiday Season let's support furthering the health of our precious pets!
