November 7, 2016
It is with great sadness that Morris Animal Foundation’s Golden Retriever Lifetime Study 3000 Strong Family mourns the loss of one of our own. Martha Granchi, Marti, to those who knew her, passed away the night of November 3, 2016. For many years, she raised golden retrievers, sharing her life at the end with GRLS Hero Seagrams #606, her daughter Cally, Bailey, and the boys Montana and Harley. Marti was passionate about the study and the hope to find a prevention and cure for cancer.
Marti fought her own cancer and it took her in the end. Cancer never won, it just wore her down. The 3000 Strong Family will continue to fight – may we someday no longer have to lose those we love, human and companion animal to cancer.
"When those you love die, the best you can do is honor their spirit for as long as you live. You make a commitment that you're going to take whatever lesson that person was trying to teach you, and you make it true in your own life... It's a positive way to keep their spirit alive in the world, by keeping it alive in yourself." (Patrick Swayze). May Marti's spirit and light shine in all who love her and may we also remember and honor Marti's fighting spirit, kindness and love and keep those memories alive in our 3000 hearts. Be at peace Marti Granchi.
All donations to this page will go directly to the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study that we all hope will yield answers for humans and our beloved dogs.
Morris Animal Foundation will send a card to Marti's family on behalf of all contributors at the completion of this campaign.
